NEW YORK MARKET DEMORALISED. (Rec. February 4, 8.50 p.m.) New York, February 3. The Exchange-Market was virtually demoralised to-day, when the pound sterling touched 3.33.1 dollars, and francs and lire dropped to similar levels. The stock market felt the effect, which took the form of a break' in prices. Tho pound sterling later recovered two points, and the Exchange Market somewhat recovered its firmness.—Aus.-N.Z. Foreign rates of exchange on London on February 2 are as follow:—Paris, francs, 47.5; Stockholm, kron., 18.02; Christiania, kron., 10.65; Montreal, dols., 3.9R; New York", dols., 3.36}; Calcutta, rupees, 2s.
