HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER
PROGK-ESS AT MANGAHAO.
By Telegraph-Special Correspondent. Palmerston North, February L Mr. J. A. Nash (member for Palmar6ton), who takes a keen interest in the Mangahao hydroelectric Bcheme, has just returned from a trip to the worKS. He stated that the main road from Shannon, which winds up tho hill to llio site of the main dam, was being rapidly completed. Most of tho corners had been taken off, and practically the whole surface- had been laid in broken metal. On completion it should prove an excellent road for motoriiiß. The work on tho road to the headworks was also making satisfactory progress, and the two miles should bo completed in about a month. Sixty to seventy men woro now employed. The sawmill plant hnd arrived and was now being installed in a fine belt of rimu bush set apart for timber for the works.
