HELP FOR EX-OFFICERS
BRITISH ASSOCIATION FORMED. London, January 30. The Officers' Association, having for its object the betterment of the lot of ex-officers, was formally inaugurated at the Mansion House, under the joint presidency of Earl Haig, Earl Beatty, and General Sir 11. Trenchnrd. Admiral Beatty, in a speech, said that when it was thoroughly established in London, the work of the association would be extended to the province?, and then to tlio overseas Dominions. Tho association would fill up the present gaps between the Departments of Stale and tlio numerous voluntary associations. Field-Marshal ITaig said there were 20,000 ox-officers unemployed no fault of their own, and 331000 were disabled and existing nn an averago pension of .£7O a year. He appealed to the public to provide half it million .sterling to assist the work of tho association'.
