Tlic jury at Gloucester Assizes awarded one Howard, a demobilised soldier, damages amounting to U3300 against two trade union > officials who complained to Howard's employers, on his rc-enjage-ment after demobilisation, that ho was promoted nnd classed as a. skilled mechanic, whereas his workmates declared lie was incapable. The'employers gave evidenco that Howard's workftvas satisfactory, but they transferred him to lfss remunerative work owing to tho union's threats to strike.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
