D'ANNUNZIO AGAIN
ANTI-BRITISH CAMPAIGN A CHAMPION OF INSURRECTION (By Telesraph-Press Association-Copyright (Hoc. February 2, 7.20 p.m.) Milan, February 2. Another exploit of Gabriel D'Amiunzio, the rebel poet, is reported. 110 kidnapped General Nigra, commander of the Italian troops on the armistice line outside Fiume, who is tnpopular with D'Annuupo's troops owing to his vigilance. D'Annunzio placed an ambush on the road where General was motoring towards Trieste. Afterhis capture General Nigra 'was compelled to walk to Fiume, where he was imprisoned in the Government Palace. The Italian newspapers angrily denounce D'Annunaio's impudence. Tlio. "Corriere della Sera", states that D'Annunzio nourishes revolutionary ideas, and is championing every insurrection, until a universal conflagration consumes the British Umpire, after which, the poet says, Italy will bo great and prosperous. The "Corriero della Sera's" statement is tlio first public hint, of D'Annuiuio's anti-British campaign.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
