SEAMEN'S DEMANDS
CONFERENCE OPENED,
A conference between the .New Zealand Ship Owners' federation and tho representatives of the Federated Seamen s Union, called for the purpose of considering the latter's demand for ,a new agreement, was opened in Wellington yesterday. The conference opened at 2.30 p.m. and; adjourned at 5.30 p.m. till 10 o'clock this morning. The following represented the New Zealand Ship Owners' Federation ':— Captains P. A. Petersen (Richardson and Co.), Hammond (Northern Company), 11. Munro (Canterbury Steam), Messrs. D. A. Aitken, W. A. Kennedy,.'W. G. Smith (Union Company), F. W. Grainger (Patea, Shipping Company), W. Rogers (Anchor Company), W. H. G. Bennett (South Taranaki Company), and W: Pryor (secretary New Zealand Ship Owners' Federation). i Tho following were the Seamen s .Federation representatives:—Messrs. W. Clarke, F. Smith, E. Cheshire (Dunedin); Messrs. S. Millbank, T. F. Anderson, D. M'Lennan (Auckland); Messrs. J. 11. Adams, J. Raglan, H. Richards, and W. T. Young, general secretary (Wellington).
