P. Luke) stated that nil would welcome the amalgamation ot Enstbourno with the city, but he did not consider it right that the counc; should <ro in for propaganda work whilo Eastbourne was not prepared to join up with She city at its own instigation. tho council desired to complete the Karon amalgamation first, and as far as liastbourne was concerned tho position was that unless Hint borough displayed ,a decided desire 'to amalgamate he did not think it right that, the connoil should UTg* the matter/ He would be a party to Eastbourne joining lip to-morrow it they showed a united desire to do so. The sooner the whole of the boroughs I (fere amalgamated with the city the better. It would' be very wrong of the council to try to get Eastbourne to join up with the city if tho borough would not make the move itself. Following wme further discussion, it was decided to defer consideration of Hie reply to be given to the Eastbourne Council's letter re amalgamation, till tho next meeting of the council In connection with tne amalgamation of Karori, the following resolution was passed:-"The Wellington City, Council fierebv resolves to petition Hisi Excellency'the Governor praying that the City of Wellington and the Borough of Karori 6hall be constituted one united borough.
