THE ALLEGATIONS. Tbe petition which has been lodged against the'return of Mr. R. Masters for the Stratford electorate alleges a number of irregularities, and asks, in view of these irregularities, that Major J. B. lliiie should be declared elected, or, alternatively, that the election of Mr. Masters should be declared null and void —that is to say, that the 6eat should be declared vacant all? another poll takeii. The petition alleges, amongst othex things, that Mr. Masters gave a freo picture show in connection with his meeting on the nisht preceding the poll, and a ' so f hat at the first, meeting of his campaign he retained # Cue services of a paid orchestra. II is further alleged that 6ome persons were permitted to veto who wero not legally qualified, that a number of counterfoils from which voting papers were detacTied bear no roll number, that a number "fif voting papers do not bear the official stamp, and that th# number of votes recorded at somo booths far exceeded fiie number of voters whose names are . crossed off on the roll at these booths. Under the procedure wTtfyh obtatnn in such cases, two Judges of the Supreme Court will bn appointed as an Electiqji Court. Probably the petition will be heard within the n?i:t, few weeks.
