The Palmerston Xorth Tennis Club tourney was started oil the grass courts, which were in excellent condition. There were 210 entries, including the Poivdrell Bros, from Taranaki . and Lampe tram ' Wanganiii." Although tho men of the local club enttred well, ladies did not do so, but ladles from outsido clubs competed in fair numbers. ' Some very keen play was experienced during t'lio day, but at the time. of closing play none of the events had got past the third round. The tourney will bo continued to-day, and is iri;o!y to run into Saturday. Powdrell Bros.. and Lampe are still left in tho Championship Singles.
