BETTING RAID

FIVE MEN ARRESTED. A. posse of police comprising Chief-De-tectivo Ward,. Detective-Sergeant ltawle, Defective Holmes, Sergeant Mlvelvic, and Constable Jarrold yesterday morning at 9.30 o'clock raided Driscoll's Printing Works in Singer's Avenue and arrested Dennis W. Driscoll, Reginald J- M'Ewan, Peter Kreyll, Jack Fernandez, and Olaf Ilokanson, who will appear in the Magistrate's Court this morning. Driscoll and M'Bwan will lie charged witli using certain premises Qn Singer's Avenue as a common gaming house, and the other three will bo charged with being fouud in n common garrfing house. _It is understood that other charges will be preferred against Driscoll and M'Ewan under the Gaming Act and the Printers' and Newspapers' Registration Act.
