According to a Press Association message from Christchurch, it is understood that Mr. C. K. licvan Drown, who has been headmaster of the Christclmrcli Hoys' High School for many ycare, has given 12 months' notice of his intention to resign.

Mr. Robert Benjamin 'Williams, one of New Zealand's early colonists, ditd at his residence, Hazeldene, Seatoun, 011 Monday. The late Mr. Williams cams to New Zealand from England in 1848, at the age of six years, landing at Port Chalmers with his father, the lata Dr. Williams, of Dunedin. Subsequently Mr. Williams became identified with the Bank of Otago, and then took over Cobb and Co.'s coaches between Balclutlm and Invcrcargill. Later, he was a partner in the purchase of large land holdings in the South .Island. In 189G, he moved to Victoria, but returned to Wellington in 1912 and had resided here Since then.
Mr. A. S. Collins, deputy-chairman of the Wellington Coal Trades Committee, left yesterday morning for New Plymouth, on a health recruiting trip. Mr. Collins has been suffering from a severe nervous breakdown for thp last six months, and also from insomnia.
The remains of' the late Mr. George Evans, an old colonist, who died at Nelson on Monday, were interred at Ivarori yesterday morning. A servico was held at St. Peter's Church, conducted by the Rev. Fielden Taylor, at which a numbet of early residents of the district wcro present! The pall-bearers wcro Messrs, \V. M'Lnchlan, E. Rodger, W. Bear, and Byron Brown, and amongst thoso present were the Mayor (Mr. .T. P. Luke) and Mr. L. Ledger, an ex-president of tlio Wellington Bowling Club, of which the deceased was ;v well-known member.
Mr. J. N. Neville, senior counter clerk at Christchurch telegraph office, has been transferred to a similar position at Wellington,
Mr. T.'F. Warren, 8.A., who prior to going on active service was an inspector in the Auckland Education Board's district, has been appointed inspector in the Wellington education district.
