SINN FEIN
BIG RISING CONTEMPLATED STRENGTH OF GREEN ARMY (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright London, January 15. The "Daily .Mail's" Dublin correspondent writes: The main strength of (ho Sinn Fein -Army, comprising 150,000 men, lies in the South, the Midlands, and tho West. The men are untrained and not equipped even for guerrilla warfare. Nevertheless tho organisation contemplates a rising on a scale far greater than in 1918, when they think American support is possible. The Sinn Fein Cabinet often meets. The Government has been hunting several members of the Cabinet for two years without success, though they have seldom moved outside a radius ol two miles from Dublin Castle. The Sinn Fein's secret agents bring information of every impending Uovernment move, but the Uovernment has n6ver anticipated the Sinn Fein camp. No Sinn Feiuer has turned informer, although big rewards and special protection anywhere in tho Empire have been promised.
In the groat battle which is proceeding, the Irishmen are not showing lo disadvar.tage. Tho Government had searched vainly for the Sinn Fein's Republican bombing and explosive schools of instruction, and even for military aeroplanes, without discovering a trace. Two Americans, who had dined with Lord French nf the Vice-Regal Lodge, returned to their hotel, and. received a mysterious caller, who eloquently stated the Sinn Fein's case. He was a leader for whom the police, had been searching for two years. After tho interview he vanished as mysteriously as ho came.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
