* SLAUGHTERMEN CEASE WORK. ■By Teleprapli.—Vross Association. Auckland, January 19. Twenty mutton slaughtermen employed at the Farmers' Freezing Company's Southdown Works went on striko tbis morning. The men were dissatisfied with the wages received on Saturday, the dispute arising on the question of waiting time. The executive of Iho Slaughtermen's Union this afternoon decided that while Ihe men had a grievance, tho strike was unauthorised and worß should bo resumed. The men accordingly announced that they would resume to-morrow. The employers promised to meet the men next week and discuss tho matter.
