ECONOMIC STABILITY
INTERNATIONAL ACTION URGED
BURDENS OF GERMANY AND AUSTRIA

Mr. Asqtiith, Viscount Bryce, Lord UobcH Cecil; Mr. Clyncs, Lord Inchcape, Mr. Uackeiiua, Mr. Thomas, and ethers have signed a memorial to llio leading Governments, including those of Britain, Franco and America, urging that ir.termttioiial action should be taken to restore the economic stability of the world. Tho memorial says that it is evident that Germany and Austria will have, to bear a- heavier load than the conquerors, but that enro must be taken that die burden does not exceed tho measure of the highest practi?ablo taxation, and does not "destroy the nower of production. Germany and Austria, it further states, must not be rendered bankrupt or the standard of living lowered eo that willingness to pav a just debt may ho converted into a spirit of despair and revolt. The signatories recommend tho granting of long-term credits to tho countries requiring assistance to restore their equilibrium—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assu.
