A WESTPORT RESOLUTION.

Westport, January ]!)._ jit a large, and representative public meeting to-night, convened by the Mayor to receive the reply of the Prune* 1111ster to an invitation to visit Wostpoit on coal and Harbour Board questions and decide what further action should be taken, it was resolved to invite the Parliamentary Sanioan party to visit Westport for the bunkering of the vessel in order that they should become personally acquainted with the conditions obtaining here as the result of thein.njn.r trouble and reduced Harbour Board revenues, also to learn the need for the cnrlv completion of the Bullcr Gorge railway. Failing this, it was resolved (hat tlie member for the district and the Mayor of Westport should be invited to fake the platform in the main centres qt the Dominion and place the whole position of the. coal shortage before the public Tt was further decided again to ask Mr. Masscv to visit Wesport.and to ask the member for the district to interview Hie Prime Minister personally in support of this renuest.
