NEW SOUTH WALES ORCHESTRA
By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent Palinerston North, January 19. The New South Wales Orchestra, arrived from Wanganui to-day and was accorded n cordial reception. The Opera Houso was crowded to overflowing tonight, and the audience was enthusiastic. During the interval Mr. K. 11. Crnbb, in the absence of the Mayor, welcomed tho orchestra to Palinerston. Tho manner in which the programme was rendered was a iierfect revelation, nnd evoked loud applause. It was certainly tho most artistic, trp.it ever provide*! in I'almerston, and regrets were expressed that thc.ro i was only one night. Undoubtedly tho piece de resistance of (lie programme was Beethoven's Symphony, and 51 r. Alfred Hill's "When the Tired Winds" (Hinemoa). Doth tho soloist and tho composer were recalled and were loudly cheered. ' ——
