They report that it is fairly general in thn Waiknto and Taurangn districts, and tliev will make a definite statement when the report is received by .headquarters. They stato that orchardists should keep their eyes open and report the disease immediately. Drastic action will be nece-sar.v if it is unchecked, as the disease will wipe out pipped fruits altogether. The infection is apparently started by an insect, and in nearly "every case it starts in the bud.
