CAWTHRON INSTITUTE

'The Cawthron Institute, Nelson, which with its endowment of nearly a quarter of a million sterling promises, to become an important factor in promotin" scientific research in connection with New Zealand industries, is now getting seriously to work. Having appointed its director, assistant director, and curator, it has secured temporary premises pending its installation in its permanent home at Stoke. Tho trustees have just completed Hie purchase of the residence in ' Nelson of the late Mr. John Sharp, a building of fourteen large rooms, with several acres of ground, for which ,£3ooo' has been paid. One room will be used to house the nucleus of the museum and .the remainder for laboratories.
