FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS
INCREASES IN EXPENDITURE

£217,5G6. •• There have been increases of approximately -.£150,000 in Customs, v £113,000 in Stamp duties, £85,000, in Postal revenue, .£30,000 in incoiue tux, and .£150,000 in Railway revenue, and a decrease of ,£370,000 in land tax. The revenue for the nine months has been'- ( -£14;3G5,595, as against £12,099,771 for the corresponding nine months of the previous financial year, so that the increase "in revenue is ,£2,2G5,82J. The biggest inoreases have been: Customs ,£719,305 Stamp duties £873,901, Railways .£521,517. Thero is a decrease- in beer duty of .£114,884. The total expenditure for the nine months was ,£10,830,739, as against £13,1GG;171 in 1918, an increaso of £3,604,568. The permanent charges show an increaso from .£7,000,530 • to .£8,405,885, but the increase is made up fully by increases in interest and sinking fund of .£872,423, and in exoenditure under Bpecialacts of ,£534,379. The annual appropriations weio ,£8,424,754, as against £(J,165,G41.
