W.N.R. RESIDENTIAL NURSERY
AN AID TO SICK MOTHERS. The Women's National Reserve is establishing a nursery to help sick mothers bv relieving them ■ temporarily of the Bare of their children. The great dearth of domestic help has often been the cause of mothers being unable to undergo proner medical or surgical treatment owing to their inability to make provision for the children during the enforced absence from home. The promoters hope that not onlv will the mother-be helped, but that the children may he benefited by the cum and love bestowed upon them nt the nursery home. The nursery is situated in Owen Street, Wellington South. It lias a bright, sunny aspect, mid is within a short distance of the Park. The matron and sub-matron are fullytrained and experienced nurses, and are devoted to children. The reserve hopes the-nursery will bo ready for the little ones at the end of January or the beginning of February, but the exact date will be announced in the daily papers The committee wishes it to be distinctly understood that the nursery is not a creche or daily nursery, where mothers mav leave their children when they go our to work, lint a residence for them while their mothers are ill. Their time nt the home will bo only for a limited period, not exceeding a month, except for special reasons, when necessity demands an extension of the time. The nurserv can never bo self-supporting, though everv child will be paid for, and there is nothing of the nature of charity about the movement; but the cost of living and the nrico of all goods is so very high that the reserve cannot carry through the project as they wish unless the public .give support. The present great need is for furnishing, and people interested in this work are asked to send donations to the treasurer, Mrs. James Kindlav. 33 Hobsou Street, Wellington. Further particulars appear in an advertisement.
