FREE MAE.KET_DESIE.ED. Representatives of the dairy industry have been meeting in Wellington to consider certain matters of supreme importance to the industry, and especially to make representations to the Government regarding these matters. Tho conference resolved that the Prime Minister he requested to inform tho Imperial authorities that it is the wish of the butter and cheese producers in New Zealand to resume pre-war methods and conditions in the disposal of .their products. . Committees wero set up to take tho place of tho Putter Committee and the Cheese Committee which were set up In tha limb of tho requisition. • The functions of the new committees, so far as .can be learned, will be to act as channels of communication with the Government. . Members of tho conference interviewed Mr. Massey about tho outlook for the industry yesterday.. One of the requests they'-made was that the Government should push on with the hydro-electric echem.es, saying that the supply of-cheap power was of vital importance to the dairy industry.
