INORDINATE NUMBER OF DEPART MENTAL HEADS. (Rec. January 12, 7.20 p.m.) Darv/in, January 12. The Commission heard lengthy evi dence regarding the alleged mismanage mcnt of Government farms, involvini neilect of stock. It was stated that th farms were in a deplorable condition, am manv of the stock were allowed to gi unliranded or wrongly branded. Jti Justice Ewing commented on the inordin atfi number of lieads of Department with onlv two or three clerks undo them. These heads could apparent!, do nothing but send minutes from one t another, from which no result cams One witness stated that wild native were addicted to cannibalism and behev ed- it nroner to eat any of their relative who died oway from their own countrj as if thev did not their spirits woul never return to their native land—Pree Assn ___
