WAIRARAPA SPORTS
T)ie' programme to bo submitted by the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club at their annual sports on the Masterton Park Oval on Anniversary Day (January 22) should attract many entries from outside amateur sportsmen. The events include many that will bo sure to attract numbers of athletes. There will be i'.at race handicaps varying in distance from 100 yards to eno mile, and a one-mile walking handicap. In addition, there will be bicycle handicap events omone, two and thrco miles, hurdle liandicaps, jumping, and a relay race. The Masterton Swimming Club is also putting on a swimming programme for amateurs, to be held in the Park Lake, where excellent facilities aro provided for diving and swimming. Entries for both sections of the programme close on January 14- —for the athletics with 111'. W. Harding, Lansdownc, Masterton, or Mr. J. Bradbury, Box 25, Masterton, and for the swimming with Mr. Parsonson, c/o Y.M.C.A., Masterton. The train service from Wellington and elsewhere will enable competitors to mako tho trip and return on the one day.
