VERBRUGGHEN ORCHESTRA
A KUMOUR DENIED. ~Mr. 11. Gladstone Hill, manager for the New Zealand tour of the New South '■ Wales State Orchestra, received a telegram from Wellington as follows:—"Humour here Vorbrugghen not personally conducting orchestra throughout Now Zealand." Mr. Hill promptly disposed, of any doubt upon this point in the following renlv:—■'•'Hamilton, January 8, 1920.—Rumour absolutely without foundation. Mr. Verbrugghen exceedingly interested in whole tour, and Mr. Alfred Hill lesents inference that he is conducting, thereby replacing Mr. Verbrugghen. Concert last night musical revelation. Audience, cheered Verbrugghen lo the echo.—(Sgl.) Gladstone Hill." In connection with the visit to Wellington of the New South Wales State Orchestra, guarantors are .to lie allowed orecedenee in the booking of seats, and it is announced in another column that the box olans for the concerts on Thursday, January 22, Friday, January 23, and Saturday. January 24, will open to guaran- ' tor? onlv en Wednesday next, and to the general oublic on the following day.
