I'iiikl" since September 1, when it was handed over from Headquarters, shows that the Board of Control restricted it to be itsod to relieve necessitous cases of unmarried mothers. The fund in September amounted to .£211!). The board has since investigated 308 cases, approved of li:i applications, rejected -_5, and Ims distributed .£7OO. At least 00 per cent, of the applicants were women of clean reputation previously. AVhorover possible the soldier responsible was paraded. A large proportion of Hie rejections were due to the manner in which soldiers offered to shoulder the responsibility. In no instance was there any attempt at evasion.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
