FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA
■ LIEUTENANT PA REE STARTS. London, January 8. Lieutenant Parcr has started his fligl to Australia. He left the Ilounslo aerodrome at 10.21 a.m., in fine weathe; with a strong wind.—Aus.-N.Z. Cabi Assn. ("Lieutenant Raymond John Paul Pare of Melbourne, went to the front wit the 11th Reinforcements of the A.F.C which he had joined in June, 1917. H is 23 years of age. He always had taste for engineering find flying, and the age of 10 years succeeded in makin .a miniature aeroplane which he used t fly from the top of a loft. After le.r ing school he studied engineering, at about two years ago enlisted in tl; Flying Corps, and entered the Scotc Poole Flying School in England. Tlioug he has taken no part in the actus fighting; work of the Flying Corps, Liei tenant Parer has flown across the Chai ncl almost daily, and over various pari of England and Scotland. He is know as an intrepid airman, and on one ocei sion was the only one of 20 to com through a storm without any mishap
