STOP WORK MEETING
•WATERSIDE WORKERS' UNION. The monthly "stop-work" jsceting of tho Waterside Workers' Union was held iti X Btoro yesterday morning. Mr. T. Brindlo; in the absence of Mr. L. Glover, presided over a large, attendance. The Taport.of the picnic committee (of which Mr. L. Hennessey Is secretary) was received and adopted. The picnic is to bo held on January 28 at Maidstone Park, Upper flutt, 'and there will bo epecial trains. It was'decide'd to invito tho Drivers' Union to participate, also to iuvito all seamen in port on the day. Tho delegates to tho federation conference at Napier made their report, whioh w.ls adopted. A hearty > vote of thanks to tho delegates was carried unanimously. It was decided to take a national ballot for the election of a secretary to tho federation, on January 15 and 16. Tho nominations arc Messrs. J. Roberts (present secretary), R. Gould, and .W. Murdoch. Mr.W. Cousins was electctj returning officer, and the scrutineers will bo Messrs. D. M'Ewan and J. O'Brien.
