Captain Robert Stewart, late of tho U.S.S. Co., who was for years so well known in tho Picton-Nelsou trade, and now in tho eerrico of tho Austalian United Steam Navigation Company, at Sydney, recently paid a tlyiug visit to New Zoo* land, spending most of his holiday in Dunedin. He returned to Sydney by the Munulia. Tho barqucntine Laura amved at Auckland from Newcastle on Saturday. Sho brought a cargo of coal. Tho iCarii is expected to come off tho slip at tho end of tho week. She will probably go to Nydia Bay to load timber lor Lyttelton. . Owing to tho late arrival of the Maori at Ijyttelloii on Saturday it was impossible to discharge all tho vessel's cargo. Sho will therefore take perishable cargo only for Lyttelton to-night.
