It is officially announced that "raids on Radicals have been carried out in 1 thirty-five cities. Hundreds of memI bcrs of tlso Communist Party have boon > arrested, and it is expected that tho 1 total will reach 1000. I u A ic n ßo ,. m , essa l>'6 states that more t than 200 Radicals have been arrested on 1 charges of disseminating Bolshevik litera--1 turo and planning to overthrow the Gov- : era men t. ■ It is reported that 500 Communists i have been arrested in New York, 300 in Detroit, and 100 in Philadelphia. It is now estimated that tho total of .arrests will bo 2000. Reports coming in from many cities . show tli at the Department of Justice 1.5 making a systematic attempt to thor- . oughly free the country from Radicals, [ especially members of the Communist , Party, which recently issued a memij festo advocating tho overthrow of tho American Government.
