As a result of inquiries made at the Christchurch Police Station it was learned that tho year-end has been one of the quieiest every experienced by the force. Notwithstanding tho enormous crowds that were about, on Christinas Eve behaviour generally was exemplary. Inference was also' made to the orderly chancier ef the crowds tliat assembled in tlie Square on election night, the police experience for such an occasion easily constituting a record eo far as orderliness was concerned.
