BOY DB OWNED IN LAKE. l!y Toleproph— Press Association. Christchurch, December 30. William Hall, aged 151 years, was drowned in a lake at Cniigieburn this morning. lie was out shooting, and waded into the lake to discover a bird ho'hud brought down, and sot: out of his depth. His body was, recovered some time later. SEAMAN KILLED. John Campbell, an able seaman on the Sftrponrikn, was Willed whilst Hie steamer was gofhj: up Queen Charlotte Sound from "Wellington yesterday. The fall rope came ofT tnc winch end, e,nd the derrick came down, hitting the deceased 1 on the head. Death was instantaneous. An inquest will be held at Picton.
