® i meeting cf the Koyal and Ancient Golf Club was held ;ii St. Andrews recently, Mr. 11. W. Forstcr, the retiring caplain, presiding. In submitting the report of the llules oil Goll Committee, Mr J. Low, tho chairman, stated that tho committee had passed among themselves the following resolution :-"The Ji.iiles of Golf Committee is of the opinion that; in order to preserve t.ie balance between the power of the bail and the length of tho hole, and in order to retain the special featifves of the same, the power of the ball should bo limited. Such investigation ns tile incuib-.; ui tho committee had been able to make leads them to suggest that in tlio prescut circumstances this object would lie- obtained by fixing a minimum limit of size for, the ball. The committer proposed to consult tho United States Goll Associalion and other bodies interested before submitting a definite proposal to tho club."
