Ey Telezraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December SO. Operations in grain and produce lines arc practically suspended during the holidays. The demand from the North Island for clialf has ceased. Tho harvest having commenced in oat-growing localities in the north, there is little business in oat.s, but prices remain ftnji at recent quotations. Cutting has commenced in tlio Ainbcrlcy aiul Ashburtou districts 'and in a few days will bo general throughout the province. It is considered that the cocksfoot production from the bays will be reduced this year and in view of the probability of increased supplies being required in tho North Island, on account, of the resumption on a bigger scale of the settlement of bush country, this seed may rise in value.
