Major. WhHc re-established the posts, but was heavily atlackcd on the night of November 15. 11l severe hand-to-hand fighting the <nemy suffered heavy loss. Our losses wero seven killed and nine wounded. Major Stigand; with a further company, joined Major White, and proceeded to clear i.p the country. The rest is unknown, but on December 13 a mutilated telegram was received reporting that a thousand cf the enemy on Deceinlvr S rushed an advance guard column which was marching in open square formation through thick grass, seven feet high, driving it upon the main body. Fierce hand-to-hand fighting cnsiicd, and Majors White and Stigand and a captain, twenty-two rankers, and four carriers w?re killed. Tho enemy were driven off, and tho column managed to withdraw after a five days' march through tho long grass. The high water-level in the Wndis is dolnying a punitive expedition.—"The Times!"
