CHAMPINSIUP MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December 2G. Tho annua! championship meeting of tho Canterbury Croquet Association opened to-day. A record number of entries has been received, the competitors hailing from all parts of tho Dominion. In audition to the Canterbury championships, tlio New Zealand championships Will be held. Dr. Whittaker, of Palnifirston North (who won the open championship of England in 1911) and 11. P. Stratton _ (last year's North Island champion) will be competing in the New Zealand championship singles and doubles. A couplo of games weiro'played this untrrmntr, nnd then rain caused tlio abandonment of play for tho day. In the first round of tho Canterbury open champion H. A. Penn defeated I. J. Boss, 26-18.
