BIGH REVENUE AND HIGH COSTS BEST MONTHS TO COME • Quarterly finance figures, also finaneq figures., for ;thc monlli, were supplied to a, BcjjrfiNlON-.vepflrter by tlio Acting-Min-ister of Finance- (Sir James Allen) yesterday. ; In the courso of a statement last evening Sir .James Allen said:—"The revenue for tho month of November last yias JC1,815i710, an increase' of ,£9i-i,731 on the figures for November, 1918. But tho increase in revenue was duo in the .jnqntl under review to an increaso in railway -rovciuio of ;C321,3G9; the earlier production of land and income tax, .£295,937; of Customs duties, J)193,535; rind of stamps duties, ,ffil,o9B. Tho revenue for tho eight months of the venr ju9t past was .£11,142,317, an increase on the figures for the previous year of ■£2.0.18,255. ' "The expenditure figures arc not conclusive. For the eight months of the enrrent year the expenditure was £U.A 39.599, an in9rease owv" tho totals for the previous year of .£3,292,166! But this increaso has been largely accountable , to additions in permanent .charges, 404, of which interest and sinking fund alone amount to ,£1,013,293, and the increases in annual appropriations are .£1.819,371. ' "In eight months , the expenditure exceeded revenue , by ,£330,<105, but, as' l £iir James Allen said, "the best of the year . has yet to come, and I have good reason to anticipate that at the end of the year the balance will bo on tho right sido."
