SLIGHTLY AMENDED FIGURES. The majority against prohibition., according to the ollicial returns, stands now at 1553, with at least 16,000 votes still to lie counted. The official totals last night were as follow:— Continuance 231,472 fitute purchase 30,771 l'rohibiUon 260,600 The result of the oltjcial count in the Mastcrton electorate is as follows:— Continuance 3097 State purchase 471 Prohibition 3375 JiOcal restoration D2Ol Local no-license 3GIO The Licensing Act, 1918, under which the poll was taken, provides that any six electors in any district may demand a recount of the vote. The application has to lie made to a Magistrate within seven days of the announcement of the result of the poll in I lie "Ciazelio," and has to bo accompanied by a deposit of ilO.
