1 * FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for strong southerly to westerly winds, squally at times, and changcablo.weathcr generally. Scattered 'showers may bo expected, particularly in tho East Coast and southernmost districts of . the South Island. The barometer has a rising , tendency, but is unsteady in the extreme south. An intense atmospheric deprsseion centred in the neighbourhood of the Chatham Islands since Saturday has been responsible for strong and squally southwest winds over the Dominion.
