The Citv Council decided -first of all to ask the Railway Department for a. lease (if •■.he end of the vail way yard of Iho now t.isused Te Aro station, for uso as a. Iramwav stand. The Railway .Ul--TOiimcnt said "No." .Then tho " City Council decided to apply to the-Harbour Board for the lease of a piece of land on the board's land just behind the.end of the station yard. This land- ie not nearlv m> suitable, but it will serve. The application of the City Tramway Department was before the Harbour Board last nisrht. ■ Mr. Webb moved that the concession be granted, subject to conditions iccommended bv the board's engineer.' Mr. Danicll, feconoing- the motion, said it was a pity that the Hailway Denartment could work with tho City Council in a matter like this.
