CAROL CONCERT
Vory enjoyable indeed was tho carol concert which was given in tho Sydney Street Schoolroom last evening by St. Paul's choristers, under tlio direction of Mr. Robert Parker.' The fresh voiccs ot tho boys, some of them or very tender years, wero very pleasant to hear, and, us a matter of fact, theirs was tho lion's sharo of the prognimmi), although Miss Kennedy's string quartet did much to assist. Instinct with the knsocMtions of the centuries- through which they have been handed down, there is an irresistible appeal attached to Christmas carols which seldom fails to mako itself felt, even with the most sophisticated of people, and last, night's audience, whether sophisticated or not. was one that was responsible to that appenl, as well as appreciative of the merits of the uevformnnccs. Of the carols there wero sung "God Rest You, Merry Gentlement." tho "Wassail Song," "Seo Amid the Winter's Snow," "The Boy's Dream," tli9 cradle song "Oh, Blessed Virgin." "A Virgin "Unspotted," "Good Kinsr Wencelaus," "Dulce Jubilo" (one of tho oldest of carols), and "The First Noel." A gavotto (Rameau) for piano and strings, was played by tho Misses Kennedy (2), Miss Henry and Miss Mills; also movements from the "Water Music" (Handel), and two dances, "Love's Minuet" and a "Stately Dance" (Cowan).
