MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

The Brooklyn Rifle Club closed its seaBon on Thursday night. There was a good attendance of members. The cliair was taken by Rev. G. W. Dent, who presented the prizes won during tho quarter just ended. The prizes, some of which were provided by the club and others by Messrs. Spencer, Worsfold, and Alabaster were quite up to the usual standard. Tho competitions' over the last quarter proved very interesting. Members have shot remarkably well over the last two months, but may Iks expected to do better when they reccive tho new guns which are now due to arrive any day. Tho shooting for the Perkins Clip and medal has been very interesting. Mr. Webb shot very consistently through* out the quarter, and eventually won by ono point from Mr. Abbott. This is tho .fifth time that Mr. Webb has won the coretcd cup, which now becomes his own ■ property. Tho results of the quarter's shooting are as follow: — Perkins Cup and medal, W. Webb, 777; Turner Cup, Ramsnj* 8111; B Class Cup, Ramsay, 755; Alabaster Cup, D. Alabaster, 22 points; Ifoicroft Shield and S.M.R..C. spoon, Mr. Webb, 99. Monthly competitions:—A Class, first month, Abbott, 270; second'' month, 6. Spencer, 285; third month, -Worsfold, 277 i. B Class: First month, Ramsay, 2G9J; second month, Ramsay, 2731; third moiitfi Beavis, 271. A feature of the evening wns a handicap Christnjis lamb shoot. Some gocd shooting being recorded. The winners were as follow;—Beavis, 70; Wilson, G9; Alabaster, G7J; Hill, G7. Beforo Mr. W. Allan, J.P., at tho Mount Cook Police Court yesterday, William Jackson was fined JL'-'i for drunkenness and one first offender was convicted end discharged.
