NEW ZEALAND VISIT. Mr. 11. Gladstone Hill arrived from tho south yesterday morning on businoss connected with the Coming tour cf tho Neiv i South Wales Stafco Orchestra. 'Jlie orj cliestra will leave. Sydney for Auckland by the Maheno on December 31. Tho first concert is to be given in' Hamilton on January 8. The orchestra will open in the Town Hall, Wellington, on January 22. The orchestra will 'po in Wellington until 'January 28, when it will leave for tho South Island. The programme will be a varied one, inasmucn as there will be vocal solos by Jladam Guoesens-Yice. Roy and Mons. Albert uoossens. Their items include Vocal sow,mo: Kecit. and 1 scena, "All-! PerSdo" (Beethoven); aria, ( "Dopuis le Jour" (from "Louise"), (CharI pen tier);'aria, "Jewel Song" (from | "Faust"), (Gounod); aria, "Elizabeth's Greeting" (from "Tnnnhauser"), (Wagner) ; aria, "Ocean, Thou Mighty Jlou. ster" (from "Oberon"), (Weber); aria, "Softly Sighs" (Weber), Vocal baritone: "Vision Entrancing" ("Heroriade"), (Massenet); "Eri Tu" ("Ballo in Masclient") (Verdi); aria from "Lo !!oi ds Lahore" 'Jlasseiic-t); "Largo al Factotum," from "Barbor of Seville" (.Rossini); aria from "Paine" (Paladihle), The violiii concertos are in tho hands of Jliss Jenny Cullon and Jlr. W. J. Coad, their rcperloiro being ug follows:—Violin .concertos: Concerto l'ot violin and orchestra, in E minor, op. 64 (Mendelssohn); introduction and londo capriccioso for violin and orchestra (Saint-Saens); concerto for violin and orchestra, in B minor, No. 3, op. 61 .tSaint-Saens); con. cc-rto No. 1, in E, for violin and orchestra (11. Vieuxtonjps). Sir. Frank Hutchens and Mr. Henry'Pona were the artists accompanyirfg the orchestra to play pianoforte concertos ns follows with full orchestral accompaniment Pianoforte chestra, No. 5, in E flat, op. 7 p, "Tho Emperor" (Beethoven); concerto in E Hat for pianoforto and orchestra (Liszt); Hungarian fantasia (Liszt); pinnoforto concerto in B flat minor, op. 23 (Tschaikovsky).. Tho full repertoire will be included in a souvenir programme to be is< sued in connection with tho visit of tho orchestra. The overtures . include Beethoven's "Prometheus," "Coriolanufi," "Lenora, No. Ill," Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's Dream, "William Tell," "Tanrihauser," "Oberon, etc., while tho symphonies include those that created such a* furore in Melbourne and Adelaide dur. ing the orchestra's recent visit; Tschaikovsky's "Pathetique," Brahms' "No. 2 in D" (on. 73), Berlioz's "Fantastic," and Beethoven's. "No. 5 in C Minor." Tho suites include: Ballet music from "Coppelia," the well-known "Peer Gynt" suite, and also the "Casse-Noisc-tto" o£ Tschkaikovsky. The "Blue. Bird" of P. B. Hnrfs will also be played in New Zealand for the first time". Among many miscellaneous items ajmeav the works cf Alfred Ilill, Percy Grninser, Boccherini. Balfoiu Gardiner,'®.
