Leslie, director of the Wellington Caledonian Society's Sports, announces that'.record entries for New Zealand have been received-in connection with the amateur events to bo run on Boxing Day at: the Basin , Reserve. In the Grand Caledonian Handicap (four distances). 31 enliries lhave been received for the 100 yards, 28 for thn 220 yards, 24 for the UD yards, niul 2-1 for Hie halfmile—lo7 pntr'ie* in all. For .t'ho one iiiilo Imndic.ii), 19 entries have been received, and- nine entries have been received for the 200 yards Amateur Provincial Championship (including Wilson and Lindsay, of iihr>" champion soldiers' team). Six. of tihe best (including WilFon) will start in tho 120. yards hurdles championship. TihiTO entries for the mile run, six for the hi'jh jump, six for the long-jump j four hefty giant? will toss tihe calmr (a sporli not Keen in Wollington for 20 years), and six will put Iho shot.
