THE MOUNT VICTORIA PEOJUCI. The suggestion that a reserve r.limiW lw established on the land at the [op of Pirie Street, near the mouth of tho tunnel was referred to by Councillor J. O. Shorland at last night's meehng of the City Council. Councillor .Shorland wanted to know whether anything was being done in the matter. Councillor T. Forsyth thought it « Hie duty of tho council to provide additional playgrounds in the densely-popu-lated district of AVellimrton East. Ho considered that tho project to lay out tennis courts at tho top of Pine Street Wii.i (i very fine one. Councillor G. Frost said the; wholo question was one of finance. The tennis players ought to be provided for, as Ihe'v had not boon catered for in the past In the fame extent ns other sports had been. However, the council had had to ('o the best it could with the money available. A scheme whs now under cranderutinn dealing with ihe provision of tennis courts on land at the foot of Mount Victoria.
