LATEST RETURNS SEATS STILL IN THE BALANCE OUTSIDE PRESS COMMENT The most important now feature in the conduct of the elections this year was the adoption of a system by which absent voters' permits might be issued right up till the day preceding the poll. The result of this change wns that a very largo number of absent voters' permits wero applied: for. ' The total number of permits issued was 10,231, and of seamen's rights the number issued was ICSB.. In only, one or two electorates is it possiblo for tho votes still uncounted to affect the issue. In the figures as published yesterday in The Dominion it was made to appear that Mr. Anstey had retained Waitnki. What happened was that Che figures for the two candidates were transpositl.
