NEW MINISTERS
NO APPOINTMENTS IMMEDIATELY. No changes are to lie announced in the Ministry for a week at least, and perhaps not until after the New Year holidayu. . There nre two vacancies to be filled, possibly three.. Sir William Eraser is to retire from the Government Very soon, and as is quite well understood, ho ie to be appointed to the Upper Hoiwe. This appointment may bojinnounccd any day now. Sir William l'raser will continue in the Ministry until the arrangements nre complete for the new Ministers to take oulcc.
Many people assumed that the result of the elections would leave the Government without an absolute majority of the votes of the Ho.nee, although it wus also assumed that tho Massey Parly, would be the strongest party in tho House. If this had 60 turned out an early short tsession would have _ been necessary. Nothing of the sort will be needed now; but the Prime Minister told' tho House, last session that it would bo necessary fur Parliament to meet early in the coming year, and that members might come piepared for a six mouths' session. This should mean that the new House will meet in April or May.
