TEACHERS* SUMMER SCHOOL
The Pongaroa Summer School, organised by Mr. B. Anderson for the beneht of country teachers, concluded its session on Monday. Colonel Charters, Inspector of Schools, was in charge of the studies, and he was assisted by a. stall, including Messrs. Gumming, Just, Kussell and Anderson. Nurse Opio look charge of first aid and hygiene. 11ns was it is believed, the first summer school of its kind held in New Zealand, as it included- most of the subjects necessary for a D certificate, the schools nsuallv held -dealing with ono or two subjects only. Solid work was done by the students, who received every attention and encouragement from tho teacliui" staff. On Monday a statement was drawn up arid approved by the students, in which they recorded their hearty appreciation of.the work dono.for them, thanked the Wellington Education Board for tho opportunity of at ending the school, and expressed their high estimation of the kindness and hospitality extended to them by tho people of Pongarca and district.
