NOTES OF THE DAY

A clumsy attempt lias been made to associate _ the Reform Party in some way with the activities of the Protestant Political Association. The answer is, of course, to be found in the fact that the P.P. A.,_ which is a non-party organisation, is known to be supporting Wardists as well as ftaform candidates in different parts of New Zealand. Perhaps the most striking instance is in • the Bruce electorate, where the full weight of the organisation is being used in the interests of tho candidate opposed to Sfit James Amen, Minister of Defence. So large a part of the Wardist 'propaganda is made up of mean and petty misrepresentation of this nature that the decadence of tho party is becoming increasingly obvious to its friends as well as to its opponents.
