The death occurred at the local hospital., of Mr. William Bnyiior, sen., a well known resident, aged 78. He was formerly orderly to the Governor of Tasmania.
The War Relief.Association has resolved to grant financial aid to soldier ecltieni whoso holdings have suffered considerably during the- recent log and grass fires.
Mrs. C. Fox, of 'Whetukura, has been appointed librarian at Otaki.
Mr. P. H. Harris, of Napier, and a member of the Dannevirke Fire Board, lias been appointed manager of the Christchiirch brunch of tlio South British Insurance Company. ,
The Whetukiira Patriotic Society has paid JXZ7 into the account of the Dannevirkp society.
■During the past five months the Dannevirko branch of the "War Belief Association lias granted assistance to- C 25 Foliiiers and dopcntlants.
The milking competitions (heifer and cow), pi'nmqtcd by Hie Pahiatua A. and T. Association, were wnn by Sfrasrs: J. W. Odtrers and Donnld Fraser. The cup has now been won outright by Mr. Odgers.
