LIQUOR CONTROL
TnE CARLISLE EXPERIMENT, London, December 1. . The broad result of the Liquor Control Board's experiment in purchasing and transforming the Carlisle hotels into comfortable taverns and directly controlling the sale of liquor is that it has practically wined out drunkenness, without penalising the moderate drinker. Mr. Lloyd George favours the experiment, which he considers e. conspicuous success. He only regrets, that the scheme was not extended to other municipal towns in the more populated areas.—Aus.-N.Z.
